L’atelier Piérre Ceramic Cafe blends the casual comfort of a neighbourhood coffee spot with the creative buzz of a hands-on art studio, making it a unique lifestyle hub tucked in the lower level of Yonge Sheppard Centre in North York. This is a place where local patrons come not just for a caffeine fix but to spend time immersed in a relaxed, colourful activity — painting their own chosen ceramic pieces.

Visitors typically arrive to an inviting setup where selecting a ceramic item is the starting point, then moving on to a generous palette of paints that encourages playful experimentation. The pay-per-piece system means this experience can be as spontaneous or as planned as you like, fitting well with last-minute plans or special occasions like casual birthday celebrations.

The atmosphere here leans cozy and uncluttered, with a calm vibe that suits both small get-togethers and those who want to dive into a mindful, creative outlet alone or with friends. Light background music and neat, well-lit seating areas invite lingering, while the clear organization of painting supplies keeps the activity smooth and enjoyable. Mornings seem to be a favourite time for visitors, with early reservations ensuring a quiet and peaceful environment to focus on painting.

The cafe side of the business isn’t overshadowed by the ceramics aspect—locally roasted coffees are on offer and appreciated by regulars, adding a familiar draw for casual drop-ins. Though the drink menu is straightforward, some visitors note small missed touches such as the lack of oat milk for hot coffee. Still, coffee here is good enough to complement the crafting, encouraging patrons to sip and paint at a leisurely pace.

Staff play a significant role in the overall experience, known locally for their friendliness and willingness to guide guests through the process without being overbearing. This is especially helpful for first-timers or those unfamiliar with ceramic painting.

Located conveniently near Sheppard-Yonge Station, L’atelier Piérre fits neatly into a day’s outing in the area, offering a break from the usual shopping or dining routines with something hands-on and quietly social. It's best suited for people looking for an artsy, interactive experience combined with a neighbourhood cafe feel — perfect for small celebrations, casual creative dates, or even solo relaxation.

This sweet little art cafe is conveniently located in Yonge Sheppard Centre (by the Kin Kin Bakery). Easily accessible by TTC (Sheppard-Yonge Station). My sister and I decided to try this little spot to celebrate her birthday. Upon arrival, the friendly owners explained the concept (choose a ceramic piece and select your paints). You pay for each piece you select. They have an assortment of ceramics - from mugs to plates, animals and holiday themed pieces (Halloween pumpkins, Christmas trees, etc). I chose a cute lucky cat and my sister chose a charming floral container. The kind gentleman shared the cafe menus with us. We ordered refreshing fruit sodas and got to work. Shoutout to the Google Reviewer who mentioned the selection of brushes. I brought a few of my own fine tip brushes for smaller areas and hard-to-reach crevices. Once finished, your ceramics are collected and the Cafe will contact you when the pieces are finished. A fun way to show your artistic side in a calm and cute environment.

I really like this place, the drinks are good. And the coloring is really fun. You can take as many colors as you want. That makes me feel comfortable.

One of the best experiences I’ve ever had! The staff were all very friendly and took the time to explain everything throughout the visit. In particular, Maggie was super helpful and was very attentive to my needs throughout the entire visit. The space was very clean and provided a relaxing, tranquil atmosphere. There were so many pieces to choose from and I loved the selection of pastel-like colours that they offered. On top of that, their food and drinks were delicious—a perfect complement to the overall experience. I would definitely recommend anyone, of any age, to drop by this place if you have the chance!

The cutest cafe in Shepperd Avenue! Cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. You can also do more than just having a cup of coffee and paint your own mug and have a great experience with your loved ones. Just removing one star from food because there is no oat milk option for hot coffee. Other than that it is a lovely place.

I’ve been to another ceramic place in Toronto and I loved the vibe of this place much more! I liked the other place as well but this is just my preference. This spot also sells their own coffees which is a plus for me! I made a reservation and came early in the morning even though the ceramic cafe is huge, with lots of seating. The space itself very well decorated and great for taking pics. On top of that, the customer service really stood out - friendly, helpful and attentive. You pick your item, which has the price written on it which includes the art studio fee (painting, firing the piece in the kiln, etc). Then, the world is your oyster. I hope they’ll have more everyday pieces like (plates for jewelry, smaller planters, ring holders for example). However, I know that the ceramics available to paint are frequently changing so I’m excited to revisit another time!

I had a wonderful time painting here with a friend! In my opinion, this is one of the most calm and aesthetic pottery painting stores in the GTA. I was also incredibly relieved that it wasn't busy, so we weren't restricted to a time limit (we painted for 5 hours!). The matcha latte and strawberry latte were decent; you can't expect the best from a pottery painting place. The pickup process was also seamless, as long as you remember to bring the paper slip (or have a photo). One complaint that I would make is about the variety of brushes; we found that the brushes were quite worn and there lacked a selection of super fine brushes for details. Otherwise, our experience at the cafe was great and I would definitely come back with friends for a nice day out!
